NorMinCHORD Research Ethics Training

Three Capitol University representatives to NorMinCHORD attended the Training in Research Ethics on May 29 - 31, 2012 at VIP Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City. They are Dr. Francis Anthony Marfori, Prof. Noel Allegre and Dr. Numeriano G. Escalante, Jr. 

The training was designed for participants to:

  • Understand the principles in the ethical conduct of research involving human participants;
  • Get acquainted with the international and national guidelines about research with human participants;
  • Identify the ethical issues in a research proposal and learn to make appropriate recommendations;
  • Learn and understand the structure, role and functions of an Ethics Review Committee;
  • Understand the elements of an ethical review process; and,
  • Understand the role of an Ethics Review Committee in the protection of human research participants.

The resource persons during the training proper included Drs. Cecilia Tomas and Ricardo Manalastas, all from the College of Medicine, UP Manila.
